Common problems and solutions for bra fitting

There are many clues that your bra is not the correct size.  If you are unsure what the problem is come and see our expert bra fitters at TKD Lingerie and let them guide you to the perfect fit.
Remember that bras have a shelf life! If you have been wearing the same bra regularly for over a year, it will lose its elasticity and support as the fabric becomes stretched and thin. Time to come shopping!

Back of the bra is riding up

  • Usually means the band is too loose and the weight of your breasts is causing the back of the bra to ride up
  • We would recommend a smaller back size

Front of the bra is lifted off your chest

  • Likely the cup is too small and your breasts are pushing the wire out
  • We would recommend a larger cup size

Underwire digs in

  • If the underwire digs in or pinches the breast tissue, this is a sign the cup is too small
  • We would recommend a larger cup size

Shoulder straps dig in

  • If the underband is too big and not giving you enough support, the weight of your breasts pull the bra down causing the shoulder straps to dig in
  • We would recommend a smaller back size

Bulging out of the cup

  • This happens when the bust is not fully encased in the cup and the breast tissue spills out of the front and/or under the arm
  • We would recommend a larger cup size

Gaping and wrinkling of the cup

  • Due to excess fabric if the cup size is too big
  • We would recommend a smaller cup size

Bra moving when arms are raised

  • If your breasts spill out of the cup when you raise your arms it could be that your underband size is too big and/or your cup size is too small
  • We would recommend trying a smaller back size first and then if needed, go up a cup size

Different sized breasts

  • Many women have one breast slightly bigger than the other
  • Always fit the larger breast and tighten the strap for the other
  • You can also try light padding on the smaller side if the size difference is noticeable under clothing

If your back size decreases, your cup size may need to increase. Come and speak to our expert bra fitters to ensure you are wearing the correct size.
